Overview

The Tennessee Aquarium’s River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings are home to more than 12,000 animals including fish, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds penguins, butterflies and more.



Dive into the watery world of the Tennessee Aquarium to get eye to eye with freshwater and saltwater fish species from around the world. You’ll find giant catfish, prehistoric sturgeon bizarre-looking paddlefish and toothy piranha in the Aquarium’s River Journey building. In the lower lobby of River Journey, enter the kingdom of seahorses. In Ocean Journey sink beneath the waves where creatures like 10-foot sharks, fierce barracuda and graceful stingrays glide through amazing coral formations.



Your Tennessee Aquarium experience, which will take at least two hours, and includes admission to two buildings: River Journey and Ocean Journey. Your tickets are good all day, so feel free to catch a bite or sneak a peek at an IMAX 3D film between buildings. When scheduling your visit or IMAX film time, remember Chattanooga is in the Eastern Time Zone. All exhibit galleries are fully accessible, and wheelchairs are available free of charge. Strollers are permitted on most days, and back packs are free for toddlers.
